DIY Peppermint Lipgloss, Detoxifying my Home

With the dry weather upon us I find I am always applying lip gloss to keep my lips hydrated. I love the EOS peppermint lipgloss egg, but hate throwing the beautiful egg containers out after they’re used up. So I made my own lipgloss and used the old container. And I must say – I’m pretty impressed with how well it worked!

DIY Peppermint Beeswax Lipbalm

2 tbsp beeswax (pellets or bar)

4 tbsp coconut oil

1/2 tsp jojoba oil (or vitamin E oil)

20 drops peppermint essential oil

Clean and sterilize container to be used in boiling water. I used empty eos containers and boiling them removed any extra lip gloss as well as bacteria.  Using a double boiler (or pot of water with smaller pot in it), melt beeswax, coconut oil and jojoba oil. Let cool for a few minutes (not too long, beeswax hardens quickly), then add Peppermint essential oil (20-40 drops depending on how minty you like it), mix and pour into containers. If using old eos containers, pour into top of egg, screw on bottom and put in fridge upside down for 1-2 hours, then remove any excess lipgloss with paper towel. If using a regular jar or container, simply pour it in and allow it to harden.
