DIY Belly Balm – Detoxifying My Home

The more rapidly my belly grows and the colder the weather gets outside – the more I am feeling the need to MOISTURIZE! So, I whipped up a delicious belly balm and have been applying it every night. It feels so luxurious, moisturizing, and I love knowing that every one of the ingredients that my skin is absorbing is natural and safe! Try this recipe out! The best thing is it can be used for anything, I also use it on my face, hands and on my baby (not so baby) girl.

DIY Belly Balm Ingredients:

2 cups Shea Butter

1 1/4 cups Coconut Oil

1 tbsp Jojoba Oil

1/2 tbsp Vitamin E Oil

5-10 drops Essential Oils per 4oz jar. I used a mix of Lavender and *Gentle Baby

*Gentle Baby is a pre mixed blend of: Geranium, Jasmine, Ylang Ylang, Rosewood, Chamomile, Lemon, Lavender, Palmarosa, Coriander, and Rose) from Young Living

**[This recipe makes a large batch – I filled 2x 2oz jars and 3x 8oz jars, totalling 28oz or 3.5cups]

Directions:

Melt Shea butter, Coconut Oil, Jojoba and Vitamin E Oil in double boiler.

Transfer to glass bowl and put in freezer until mostly hardened (1/2 hr – 1hr or so).

Whip with beaters until it has the consistency of whipped butter.

Add Essential oils or transfer butter to individual jars and then add oils if you want different oils in each jar.

Store in fridge if not using within the next couple months.

Voila!

Some pregnancy-safe oils to consider adding: Lavender, Frankincense, Chamomile. See benefits for each below.

And if you have any extra balm left over, you can use it on your face, hands or even on baby once they are out. The essential oils are gentle enough.

Happy Moisturizing!
